Kitchen cabinet doors are a problem that most Mom’s may have to tackle at some point. Especially because a kitchen door off its hinges is a focal point of interest for inquisitive children. It can spell disaster for the free-fingered child who knocks it over or crawls into the cupboard within, sniffing out danger.

Kitchen cabinet doors are often fitted with concealed steel hinges which come in two parts. These are fitted with two screws which hold the two parts together. This means the door closes without the need for a catch.

One part of the steel hinge screws to the door and the other part screws to the cupboard frame. They slot together and are held in place with a locking screw.
Joining this screw family is the adjusting bolt which adjusts the door.

Problem:

1. Loose door
         a. To fix the loose kitchen doors you must first make sure that the locking screw is              firmly in place.
         b. Once this is accomplished, ensure the fixed door screws and adjustable    cupboard screws are tight.
         c. If they aren’t they maybe the wrong shape or size and you will have to change them at your local DIY store.
         d. Once the locking screw is tightly screwed you can make adjustments.

2. Incorrectly aligned doors
         a. To adjust the height, unfasten the two adjustable cupboard screws.
         b. Adjust the cupboards to the required level and retighten them.
         c. Turn the adjusting screw (possibly the locking screw) and rearrange the cupboards to your satisfaction.
         d. Adjust the angle of the door by unscrewing the top or bottom screw, you may have to turn them in opposite directions and release the locking screw to do so.
         e. If the door is not closing properly it is probably too tight.
         f. Release the locking screw on both hinges then slide the door out towards you.
         g. Retighten the hinges and you’re all set.
