Do you find diets boring? Do you struggle to stick with healthy eating because the food just doesn’t excite you?
If you find this familiar you’re among thousands of people who struggle to equate the process of losing weight with the idea of enjoyable eating and tasty foods.

The truth is that you can have both – you can lose weight and still have a great experience with food, if you simply learn how food, appetite and weight loss work. Here are some tips you can use to help you do just that.
If you think diets are all about cardboard food and tasteless meals, think again. There is no need to ban anything from a diet, no matter how much weight you want to lose. In fact banning things can be counterproductive. It can result in you yearning for them and breaking your diet to eat them. When you are trying to lose weight watch your portion sizes and allow yourself just a small piece of chocolate when you desire it, instead of the whole bar. Quite often this is all you’ll need.
Sometimes you can find sensible alternatives to higher calorie dishes without actually noticing any difference in the finished product. Take a baked potato in its skin for example. This is a nice healthy choice but if you lather it with butter you’ll be doing it a disservice. Find a low fat spread to use instead and use a little less of it. The potato will still be just as good and you’ll reduce your intake of calories and fat as well.

Quite often there are much healthier options by going vegetarian. Many people wouldn’t even consider this, but if you just switch to vegetarian mince, or go without beef for a meal you can save yourself some calories and you might discover a hidden wonder.
There are also some very tasty vegan cookies and cakes which are often healthier than their dairy cousins!
Let’s face it we all love certain foods that are full of calories and fat. But you have a choice here. You can decide to eat smaller portions and just enjoy them occasionally when you really fancy them.
Alternatively you can find other ways to adjust the dish so it is healthier anyway. For example in lasagna you could substitute the beef for turkey, or simply choose a leaner cut of meat.
We as humans are programmed to want calories when we are hungry. The hungrier you get the more you start to crave high calorie, sugary items. It you eat sensibly and stay full, those naughty donuts won’t look quite so tempting, which means you can treat yourself in moderation but without becoming a slave to your cravings.
Good news – tasty food doesn’t have to be banned from any diet plan. In fact in your quest to lose weight you might actually find you become more creative in the kitchen. All in all you can enjoy the feeling of losing weight and enjoying your food more than you ever have before.
