If there were ever an Olympics in mom fashion, Gwen Stefani would win

By: Jacqueline Dwigans

She somehow effortlessly managed to stay exactly the same person, but all with having a little person on her hip.

After looking at picture after picture after picture of the Holla Back Girl's mommy style, I have to tell you that she definitely has a "mom-iform" a mom uniform going on, but of course much cooler than all of ours ever.

1. Jeans-- She has boys. Boys play in dirt. Dirt is gross when you're wearing skirts and dresses. And jeans? Well they're always rock and roll ready. She seems to be diggin on the skinny variety and sometimes the ultra flare. Both are very much acceptable. Extra credit to the moms who can and do rock distressed denim. Even more extra credit to the moms who's pants weren't bought that way, and was just a fantastic fashion accident of a toddler who wanted to see what would happen to them.

2. A basic t-shirt- Basic is sort of a dirty word. Because as long as it's not pokinganyone in the face, then a t-shirt with cool graphics on it can be an understated look as well. Ms. G usually rocks the solid color tee, but personally I've been leaning more and more towards the striped look myself. Also, long sleeves work wonders, but do layer. Kiddos on top of you, even in the winter months can lead to you being more sweaty and hot feeling than you originally planned and it's always good to have a backup plan for when little Timmy spills/flings spaghetti all over you.

3. The jacket or sweater- A jacket is always much more glam, but when your gig is going to the park, you gotta be comfy casual. That's when the sweater look is best. Also, a blazer that is fitted, or not for more of a punk look can do wonders to just a regular t-shirt jeans combo.

4. Flats- Now this is something we all know too true. With babies comes boring shoes. Starting with pregnancy your breaking out your flip flops and flats and hiding your pumps for date nights, and it usually stays that ways for a long time. Don't be scared to break them out once in a while, but when you're going to a Mommy and Me class, it's best to keep your sparkley blue ballet flats closer to your "TO WEAR" list.
The biggest thing that sets Gwen apart from say you or me? She has one big statement piece that says HEY LOOK AT ME!! It can be here accessories like some awesome bracelets, or a scarf, or it can be even her shoes that are awesome strappy sandals. A piece I try most is wearing a louder sweater or jacket, and play everything else down, that way I'm still fun, but if I do go somewhere more conservative I'm best dressed for there as well.

Also to snag the Gwen mommy look? She's never outside without her red lips. You don't have to pull off the brightest reddest hue you can find though, find something closer to your skin tone and try that first. Sometimes that can take a few shades before you can perfect it, but once you find it you'll be set for life!
