It seems that you can never keep up with your laundry - no matter how often you run a wash, there is always a pile of dirty clothes waiting to be cleaned. Combine this never ending cycle with a cluttered and unorganized laundry room, and it can seem like you are completely swamped with laundry duty. A clean and organized laundry room can help take away some of the stress, and make the process a smoother one and maybe even save you a bit of time. Here are some tips to help make your laundry room more organized and perhaps it will stop looking like this:
Tips:

- Go High – Laundry rooms are often small, so the best way to gain storage space is to use the height of your room to your advantage. Install shelves and cupboards above the washer and dryer. You may have to use a step stool from time to time, but it’s worth it for the extra space.
- Rock N’ Roll – Instead of one giant hold-all laundry basket – make sorting easier by purchasing a laundry organizing system. The three baskets will hold your lights, darks and whites. (If you’re crafty you can make signs for each basket.) The organizer also has a rack which comes in handy when you have items that need to hang dry. An added bonus to this organizer (if you don’t have to deal with stairs) is that the rollers make laundry pick-up and delivery a breeze
.
- Befriend Baskets – Baskets are a laundry room trip threat – they hide, organize and beautify. Use these baskets to store your laundry room needs by groups such as: pre-treatments, washing machine products, dryer products, after-care etc. Having your products separated in baskets keeps them hidden out of sight, proving a more streamlined look to your laundry room.
- Think of the Door as an Extra Wall - The laundry room door can provide extra storage room if you get an over the door ironing organizer. This will provided a much needed place to store your ironing board and iron.
- Retractable Clothes Line – Dryer racks are great for clothes that can’t go in the dryer, but they take up a ton of space. Consider buying a retractable clothes line that you can hang in your laundry room when needed. When it’s not in use, it can be stored out of sight, taking up no room.
- Stain Removal Chart – Do you always remember which product to use for which stain on which fabric? Create or print off a stain chart and hang it in your laundry room. This is a real time saver when you have a fresh stain that you don’t want to have set.
- Oddject Box - Oddject Box – Create a box or basket for all the odds and ends you find while washing clothes. This is the spot where lonely socks and the odds and ends found in pockets go to wait to be claimed by their rightful owner
- Purposeful Beauty – Don’t waste valuable space decorating your room with pretty, but useless trinkets. Instead beautify your necessities, along with the baskets which we’ve already mentioned, if you use powder detergent consider decanting it into a lovely glass container. A fresh coat of paint in a soothing color helps add some beauty into a room without taking up space.
Following these organization tips, you can have a fully functioning and beautiful laundry room.
