Calling all Mom's of ONE

Started Nov 2, 2011 0 Replies

I'm loving MBS, but I'm feeling in the minority with only one child. I would love to connect with some only child moms. I have a soon to be seven year old and he's definitely the only one ;-)

The Avengers (a mom's review)

In the words of my seven year old, “Went to see The Adventures” this weekend. We checked the rating for The Avengers, which was PG-13. Honestly we probably would have taken him anyway; he saw all three Transformer movies at the theatre. There was language that made me cringe. No form of cursing is "mild" to me when my child is watching. Thankfully Samuel Jackson refrained for using his famous four letter word. I guess then it would have had to be rated R.I’m a 21st century superhero virgin so…See More

Parenting Training Wheels

The first time I ever saw my dad cry was when my brother graduated from high school.  Yeah it was emotional, but it was also a “Thank God” cry worthy kind of moment. Perhaps daddy was having a moment where he could breathe a sigh of relief.  He had raised his kids by his own trial and error and now he could coast. After my brother's gradutuation my daddy began to loosen up. Today he is the patient grandfather who had the potty breakthrough with Christopher in ONE weekend after I had been working…See More

A nickname story...

I was in the emergency room approximately 15 months after my first miscarriage. I did not cry as hard as I did the first time but I was terribly disappointed and so glad that this time only three people knew I was pregnant. One of the worst things about miscarrying the first time was having to untellthe good news. I wonder how…See More

Things I never ask....

5 minute Stream of Consciousness...How far along were you?Don’t you want to have children? Are you trying?Aren't you going to have any more children?Don’t you want a little …? (opposite of what you have)Just a reminder to those meaning no harm, the innocence of your tongue lashes at the ones who are trying, have tried, have failed, have succeeded, have given up, are content. Pray for their grief and struggles, pray that they learn to live with it, pray that they overcome it and pray that they…See More

A Cause for Sociability

Today I am inspired by North Carolina Governor, Bev Purdue, who decided to get out of the political fight so that she could focus on the fight for education in our public schools.Today I am linking up with Create With Joy for Inspire Me Monday. This post has nothing to do with politics but I thought it was appropriate to repost now, as we enter the dog fight of the political season.  …See More

About Your Blog
My blog contains sporadic posts about nothing in particular. It is about whatever has inspired me to write on a given day. Sometimes it's inspirational, sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's sad, sometimes it's venting. My subtitle is " another sporadic publication" because I am only committed to blogging sporadically. I named it Here's the thing because that serves as my punch line at the end of each post. The title "Here's the thing" from the show Monk. When Monk finally figured out the murder and put it all together, he started his explanation with Here's the thing..
