This happened quite some time ago, but I was just reflecting on it today. Everyone we meet is in our life for a reason, don't you agree? This nanny was there to save a little boy's life, risking her own in the process. I always hear about nannies going above and beyond in their work, but this one touched me.

Back in late 2008 in Mumbai, gunmen targeted several sites across the city killing 179 people. Two-year-old Moshe Holtzberg's parents were included. Their home came under attack, with gunmen going door-to-door searching for targets. Sandra Samuel, Holtzberg's nanny faced the men, daring them to stop her  according to a CNN article. The nanny found the boy's parents shot and made a quick decision. She grabbed Holtzberg and took him to safety, "almost daring the terrorists to shoot a woman carrying a baby".

I was very sad for this young boy, losing both of his parents in such a tragic manner. I'm sure that as he grows, he'll learn how wonderful his nanny was, risking her life for him.

There is an update on his story available.

Do you know a nanny who has gone above and beyond? Even if it's not this extreme, nannies can be a wonderful addition to your child's life.
